Mission
The mission of the Counseling Program for Intercollegiate Athletes (CPIA) as an unit within The Office of The Provost, is to provide advanced academic counseling and serve as a liaison between the academic and athletic communities in order to promote retention, progress toward a degree and graduation for all student-athletes at the University of Connecticut.
Objectives
- Support students in fostering a successful academic and social transition from high school to college.
- Promote a positive academic experience for students and provide opportunities and strategies to help students reach their educational goals.
- Provide students with the necessary information and skills in order to make a successful transition from their undergraduate experience to graduate studies or professional life.
- Develop programs to aid students in achieving a healthy balance between academics and athletics.
- Help students comply with University and NCAA standards.
