Tutee Guidelines

To use a CPIA tutor, student-athletes must follow the policies stated below. If any of these policies are broken, the tutorial coordinator and/or counselor reserve the right to revoke tutor privileges.

  1. Each student-athlete must meet with his/her C.P.I.A. Counselor before initial tutorial assignments.
  2. Student-athletes must schedule an appointment with each tutor within two weeks of receiving the assignment or tutoring privileges may be revoked.
  3. Tutors will not execute your assignments, tutors are to be used as a supplement to studying; therefore, you must attend the tutorial sessions having already completed or attempted your homework.
  4. Regular class attendance is required for all students who request tutorial assistance. Tutorial services may be withheld from any student who does not regularly attend class.
  5. Student-athletes should attend each tutorial session with prepared questions and ready to discuss lectures, texts and other assignments. Materials necessary at a tutorial session includes textbooks, lecture notes, class handouts, study guides, learning materials (note cards, practice tests).
  6. If you miss two individual or group tutorial sessions "no shows," your sessions for that particular subject may be terminated.
  7. A missed appointment "no show" is defined as:

A) BEING 15 MINUTES LATE TO AN APPOINTMENT.
B) NOT SHOWING UP AT ALL FOR AN APPOINTMENT.

  1. Respective coaches will be notified by the C.P.I.A. Counselor when two or more tutorial sessions have been missed.
  2. If you have to cancel a tutorial appointment, it is your responsibility to contact your tutor at least 18-hours before the appointment. If you are unable to contact your tutor, you need to contact the Tutorial Coordinator or your C.P.I.A. Counselor immediately.

If your tutor misses an appointment, contact the C.P.I.A. Tutorial Coordinator at 486-0492 or email cpiatutorcoordinator@uconn.edu as soon as possible.
