Tutoring Services

As a student athlete at The University of Connecticut, you are welcomed and encouraged to request tutorial assistance for any of your classes. CPIA's tutorial services are provided free of charge and are available to all student athletes regardless of scholarship status.

Each semester our tutorial staff consists of well-trained graduate and undergraduate students who have demonstrated high levels of proficiency in their respective subject areas.

tutoring

Tutors are supervised by the tutorial coordinator to promote a productive relationship between the tutor and tutee. Tutors strictly uphold the University of Connecticut Code of Conduct , NCAA rules and regulations, University policy on plagiarism, as well as the specific CPIA tutor guidelines. For any concerns, please refer to the Tutoring Handbook or contact the Tutoring Program staff. Our tutors have flexible time schedules allowing you, the student athlete, to establish meeting times complimentary to your hectic schedule.

While the majority of tutorial sessions are conducted on a one-to-one basis, group tutorial sessions can also be arranged. If you are interested in having a tutor for any of your classes, please contact your CPIA counselor to make the appropriate arrangements. Please do not be embarrassed to ask for the help of a tutor. One of the biggest mistakes students make is waiting until they are in serious trouble in a course before they ask for help. If you use the tutorial service when you begin having trouble, you will save a great deal of time, frustration and wasted effort. Even if you are doing well in a class and simply wish to improve your grade, we strongly encourage you to utilize the tutorial program.

If you have any additional questions about CPIA's tutorial program, please contact your CPIA counselor directly, or you can email the tutorial coordinator at cpiatutorcoordinator@uconn.edu. Another great resource for tutors is through the academic departments on campus.
